Brown Alpert Medical School

I co-coordinate the Navigation Partnership Program at the Brown Alpert Medical School. First-year students in the Primary Care-Population Medicine program work longitudinally with their partnered patient to assist them in getting the highest quality healthcare possible.  The medical students learn about the healthcare system from the perspective of the patient and learn from the patient as an expert in their healthcare experience.

Rhode Island KIDS COUNT

I wrote about student-centered learning for Rhode Island KIDS COUNT. I interviewed teachers, students, principals, and non-profit leaders to highlight how student-centered learning is being implemented across Rhode Island. This includes competency-based learning, learning that takes place anytime and anywhere, personalized learning, and students taking ownership over their own learning.

United Way of Rhode Island

I collaborated with the United Way of Rhode Island Afterschool Network to write the 2019 report: “State of Out of School Time Learning Programs in Rhode Island” which highlights the need to invest in our youth outside of formal school hours, and to ensure equitable access to these transformative resources. The Rhode Island Special Legislative Commission on Out of School Time Learning included this report in its concluding findings.

Rhode Island Office of Innovation

I conducted interviews with superintendents, principles, teachers, parents, and students engaged in Rhode Island’s statewide personalized learning initiative and wrote reports that shared best practices and lessons learned.
